Teen Choice Awards
Presenters and Performers Gifted at Backstage Creations' Celebrity Gift Retreat
Backstage Creations, specialists in award show gifts and custom backstage talent retreats, created the backstage Talent Retreat for this year's performer and presenter gifts for the 2002 Teen Choice Awards, which taped at the Universal Amphitheatre on August 4th and aired Monday, August 19, 2002, on FOX.
Destiny Design Team: The Teen Choice Awards Celebrity Gift Retreat decor was created to tie in with the Polynesian Beach Theme of the show. Tiki huts filled the space while colorful war masks and canoes lent the air of a bustling Polynesian village. The tables were surrounded by grass skirts and tiki torches and bamboo fencing lined the Talent Retreat area. While the gifts were definitely 21st century, the ambiance drew the stars back in time to a tropical paradise.
While waiting for rehearsals or their show appearance, stars such as Jessica Alba, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Teen Choice Extraordinary Achievement Award honoree Reese Witherspoon, Susan Sarandon, Carmen Electra, Tim Allen, Frankie Muniz, Tom Green, Shannon Elizabeth, pro-skateboard legend Tony Hawk and WWF wrestler-turned -action-superstar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson were thanked for their time and talent by being given the opportunity to select specific gifts they wished to receive from the product lines being offered by participating donor companies. Backstage Creations was created in 2000 by Karen Wood to give major corporations such as Baccarat, Coach, Sprint, Nike and Palm as well as up-and-coming designers the exclusive opportunity to personally introduce their products and services to celebrities in the A-list party atmosphere of an inviting backstage "Retreat" at such industry honors as the Screen Actors Guild Awards®, People's Choice Awards and Billboard Awards.
A selection of the gifts received by the stars will be auctioned off on Hollywood Charities.com to raise money for Teens 4 A Cure, an initiative of young people associated with the National Children's Leukemia Foundation. The Celebrity Gift
Bag from the Teen Choice Awards went up for auction starting August 9th.
CELEBRITY GIFTS
Andrea - Andrea Girlfriends Night Out "My Lash," was scooped up by Carmen Electra and Eve - both said they could not wait to try these funky eyelashes.
AXE - Axe, unique body sprays in three scentsational fragrances, were given to hot celebrity bodies, including Tom Green (above left) and Seth Green.
Eclipse Flash - Eclipse Flash Strips are a new, great-tasting choice for fresh breath. Stars like Jack Black and Alyson Hannigan loved the taste.
FreshLook - FreshLook color contact lenses easily provide a new fun look for everybody. Jaime Lynn Spears just got her prescription and was looking forward to trying the lenses in a variety of different colors.
GUESS? - GUESS? provided men's and women's leather strap watches. Members of BB Mak all chose the same style while Susan Sarandon's daughter, Eva Amurri, loved the stone bezel design. Kelly Osbourne chose the men's watch since she loves oversized accessories. Black is her color!
Hello Kitty - The classic Hello Kitty beaded purse with silver chain and cute toasters were a hit. Randy Jackson spoke of Mariah Carey's collection and Carmen Electra took some Hello Kitty guitar picks for her boyfriend, Dave Navarro of the Red Hot Chile Peppers. Jessica Alba said HK is the cutest and she'll be using her new toaster often.
JenStone - JenStone belts are quickly becoming a must-have fashion item. Jack Black saw the product display as he entered the gift room and said "There's my belt!" He had just worn his Tenacious D buckle on the Craig Kilborn Show and pulled it out of his backpack to show Jen how he's been either wearing it or carrying it around ever since! Jen made a special belt for Nelly that had his name in white Swarovski crystals on a black background. Paula Abdul notched two belts, the Palm Tree design and a Gothic Cross.
Johnny and Tawnee - A unique blend of leather and stone jewelry was actually worn by BB Mak on stage during the show. Carmen Electra loved her Johnny and Tawnee design and she spoke of her American Indian heritage with the Indian designer.
Marchon Eyewear - The Nike Marj was a big hit with all the talent.
They took time to be fitted for their frame of choice.
Neutrogena - A sponsor of the Teen Choice Awards and supplier of super quality products. Seth Green said he already uses Neutrogena shampoo and was eager to try out the men's products he received.
Sprint and LG Mobile Phones - The PCS Phone 1010 by LG was already activated and ready for use by the lucky recipients. Jessica Alba used her new Sprint & LG phone right away and the American Idol Season 1 cast members used theirs to phone home.
Steve Madden - Steve Madden had shoes for both the guys and
gals. Tara Lipinski loves the line and picked up an I Love Steve
Madden shirt like the one Alyson Hannigan is modeling (left).
Erika Christensen chose unique sandals inlaid with turquoise stones.
Wilsons Leather - Wilson's provided a wide variety of high quality men's and women's accessories in beautiful Italian leathers. Frankie Muniz chose a brown brief bag while Susan Sarandon selected the luscious burgundy bag that will also be given to celebs who appear at this year's MTV Video Music Awards .
Zoppini Modular Charm Bracelets - Zoppini Charm Bracelets are a modern twist on the traditional accessory that quickly gained popularity in North America. The stars custom designed their own unique bracelets. Tim Allen created one for his daughter and Seth Green made one for a friend's birthday.
